MFM Magic Convention 2024: A Magical Experience for All

The MFM Magic Convention 2024, held on June 22, 2024, at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall, MaTiC, Kuala Lumpur, was a celebration of talent, creativity, and the love of magic. Hosted by the Magic Federation of Malaya (MFM), this convention brought together magicians, creators, and magic enthusiasts from all over Asia to share their passion and expertise in the art of illusion.

A Vision Born in Taiwan

In November 2023, a groundbreaking magic event in Taiwan inspired a new vision. It wasn’t just a convention; it was a heartwarming experience—a feeling that had been missing in Malaysia since the MCO. Back in Malaysia, our president Mr.Tam called Chin Chong and asked, “Do you want a Malaysia version of TMA?” That very night, a plan was sketched, and the decision was made

Thus, the MFM Magic Convention 2024 - Reactivate was born. The mission was clear: to bring back the vibrancy of magic to Malaysia and celebrate the creativity of the magical arts.

Competitions: Unleashing Talent

One of the highlights of the event was the Stage Magic Competition and Close-Up Magic Competition, where participants dazzled the audience with their originality, storytelling, and technical brilliance. The winners were as follows:

Stage Magic Competition

• Champion: Zarrius Lim (Singapore)

• 1st Runner-Up: LuqmanDino (Malaysia)

• 2nd Runner-Up: Oon Jya Chyen (Malaysia)

• Most Original Award: Oon Jya Chyen (Malaysia)

• People’s Choice Award: Ooi Yong Yau (Malaysia)

Close-Up Magic Competition

• Champion: Aaron Nathanael (Indonesia)

• 1st Runner-Up: Guan Yong Liang (Malaysia)

• 2nd Runner-Up: Yap Jin Wei (Malaysia)

• Most Original Award: Aaron Nathanael (Indonesia)

• People’s Choice Award: Guan Yong Liang (Malaysia)

These competitions not only highlighted the diverse talent within the region but also provided a platform for rising stars to shine.

Lectures: Learning from the Masters

The convention featured four enriching lectures, each focusing on different aspects of magic:

1. Misdirection – The art of captivating the audience’s attention.

2. Kids Entertainment – Perfecting performances tailored for children.

3. Storytelling Magic – Adding narrative depth to magical acts.

4. Magic as a Career – Insightful guidance for aspiring professional magicians.

These sessions provided valuable takeaways for attendees of all skill levels, from hobbyists to seasoned professionals.

Gala Show: An Evening of Enchantment

The convention culminated in the Gala Show, a spectacle featuring performances by outstanding magicians:
